Last Sunday was International Sunday as we celebrated being a church of different nationalities, making us a diverse family, passionate about Jesus Christ.
Peter Teagle from Friends International encouraged us with stories of reaching out to different cultures and how all of us can be involved as we engage with people in the workplace, in our schools, in our families, and neighbourhoods.
The children sang a song in Chinese and some of our European, Asian and African friends prayed in their native tongues. One of our Indian students read the Bible in Hindi. We continued celebrating after the morning services with a lunch where around 80 people gathered to enjoy authentic Chinese and African food.
Evelyn Lockhart and Susie Baxter, along with their teams worked hard to prepare a delicious meal of Sushi, Chicken curry, mixed vegetables, Jollof rice, fried Plantain followed by fresh fruit. There was live music to provided by our excellent pianist Enoch from Hong Kong. It was encouraging to see three of our friends from the Friday night student cafe join us for lunch which was then followed by a quiz and cake for the winners!
