What is life all about? Why are we here?
These age-old questions still bother us today; even if we might not admit it, we all look for meaning in something or someone. The bible tackles these questions head on in Ecclesiastes, a book in which the writer cries right from the start “meaningless, everything is meaningless!”
He asks questions that any person in 2018 could identify with, grappling with what it means to be human. Not necessarily giving us answers, the writer, like a university professor getting their students to challenge things for themselves, asks us questions: what value is there in chasing riches, pleasure, comfort, love, success, power or any other earthly goal? Sunday 29th July PM kicks off the first in a series of sermons on Ecclesiastes, in which we join the professor in his search for meaning.
