In Touch

The In Touch mission helps the homeless and those in need, every Tuesday and Friday lunchtime at Lansdowne Church. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by the generosity of many.  Additionally, a number of businesses and others in the area, quietly and without fanfare, support us with generous donations of food.

A hot meal with tea, coffee and squash are served to our visitors in a comfortable, warm and caring environment.  Clothes are also given out, as many of our visitors find themselves without the means to change into fresh clothing.  When you’re wet, cold, tired and hungry, a friendly word, a hot meal and a fresh pair of socks, can help you feel human again!

Some of our volunteers will provide information and a friendly chat, particularly to the young, who may be living ‘out’ for the first time and who have no idea what to do or where to turn for help.

Just before we serve the food, we start every session with a reading from the Bible, followed by a prayer – which is  always followed by a loud Amen from those assembled!

We rely on The Holy Spirit’s guiding principle of Love to direct us in all we do.

Care Home Ministry

At Lansdowne we want to make sure that those who can’t necessarily make it to church in person don’t miss out on the opportunity to join with us for a church service. For this reason, we visit Care Homes in the local area. Each residential home is visited at least once per month, mostly on Sunday afternoons.

The services last for 40 minutes, consisting of hymns, Bible readings, and a 10 minute devotional talk.

There are 6 people to each team, including a pianist, a leader, and a guest speaker. We use large print hymn books for the residents and, depending on the size of the home, we can have anything from 8 to 30 residents attending the services. Not meeting currently.
