An Evening With Bear Grylls - Tue 18 Nov

Bear Grylls! The name has instant "brand" recognition. Bear Grylls: the former member of the SAS, the Chief Scout, the Running Wild TV celebrity adventurer!

But it's Bear Grylls, the disciple of Jesus, who really interests us.

Bookings live from Friday 3 October here:

Bournemouth Church Collective

We are delighted that Bear is coming to the area for a three-venue event on Tuesday 18 November to tell his story.

Bear is one of very few Christians today whose personal faith identity cuts through the noise of the news and connects with people. He has moved the dial on his passion for Jesus up a notch in the last few months with the publication of his Times Best seller book: The Greatest Story Ever Told.

In some ways, he is taking a risk by doing this, but that's exactly what makes him the man he is. As he says about himself: "Faith in Christ has been the great empowering presence in my life!”

This event has been organised by the Bournemouth Church Collective who brought the Baptisms On The Beach to Bournemouth in the summer.

Bear will be speaking at three venues on the evening:

  • 7pm at Lansdowne Church

  • 7:30pm at CityGate Church

  • 8pm at Christchurch Priory

We are grateful for these large venues making their facilities available free of charge. The programme will be the same in each venue, although timings of the various features will vary.

There will be others involved in the evening programme including apologist Amy Orr Ewing and  spoken-word artist Abby Guinness. Local worship bands will lead the music in each venue and local people will be telling their stories of hope.

We are praying that, through such opportunities, our confidence in mission will grow.

We want to encourage you to think about those you know who are not yet Christians and who you might want to bring with you to hear Bear talk about his faith in Jesus. Why not buy his book for yourself and a friend?

We also see this particular event as helping us in our discipleship, especially in our love for the Word of God. We want to our Churches to get into the Bible. It's the gospel story of Jesus which Bear's book imaginatively retells.

Wouldn't it be great if, all over our region, as a result of what we are planning, people come to meet Jesus in a life-transforming way as He walks across the pages of the book that is about Him! There is a deep appetite in our wider culture at the moment for God, for truth and for the Bible; especially among younger people. Bear can help us feed that hunger.

All the details, including the booking process that goes live on Friday 3 October, can be found here.

The event is free, but donations can be made on the night. Please do not block book. We are allowing a maximum of 4 tickets per booking. Tickets are only available to book in advance and will not be available on the door.

Do remember to invite non-Church friends. We expect this to sell out quickly - so book early if you have a preferred venue and time.
